To keep your new bamboo flooring looking as good as new for as long as possible, try the following:
Check your vacuum head for any embedded grit, dirt or other objects that can scratch the floor. Do not let sand, dirt or grit build up on your bamboo floor, as this acts like sandpaper.
When a spill occurs, soak up the bulk liquid promptly.
Use a clean static mop/micro-fibre to sweep up dust.
Do not use abrasive pads to clean/scrub floor.
Use undiluted methylated spirits to remove and stubborn stains (i.e. red wine, coffee, etc).
Use diluted methylated spirits to remove any light marks or scrapes.
In areas of excessive traffic and wear, please make use of runners or area rugs.
Use felt protectors under heavy pieces of furniture and chairs. Do not use rubber as it may leach into the bamboo.
Use protective mats at all exterior entrances.
Spiked heels or shoes in need of repair can severely damage your floor.
Never wet or damp mop your bamboo floors.
Never use oil soaps, wax, liquid or other household products to clean your floor. The use of these products can dull your bamboo floor's finish and make re-finishing difficult.
Keep animals nails trimmed.
Protect your floor when using a dolly for moving furniture or appliances.
Never slide or roll heavy furniture or appliances across the floor.
Proper care and maintenance can extend the life of your floor for many years, however, at some time a re-coating may be desirable.
